Jesse H. and Beulah Cox Scholarship Program

Cox Scholars

The Cox Scholarship offers hardworking Indiana residents service opportunity, connection to other scholars on campus, and the development of personal and professional skills, as you make the commitment to work while pursuing your academics.

 

Applicant requirements

  • Enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student (carrying 12 or more credit hours) on the IUPUI campus
  • Pursuing their first undergraduate degree
  • Maintaining a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • A U.S. citizen and resident of the state of Indiana
  • Able to demonstrate a commitment to funding their own education by working to contribute at least 25% of the standard cost of attendance OR showing 300 total worked hours a year
  • Can be an incoming freshman OR a currently enrolled IUPUI undergraduate student
  • Have demonstrated a financial need by submitting the FAFSA

Reward amount and deadlines

  • $5,000 - $15,000 reward range. Reward amounts typically rewarded depending on aid package.
  • Incoming Freshman deadline: February 15th to submit all material
  • Current IUPUI student deadline: April 1st to submit all material

Please note: NCAA athletes are not eligible for Cox Scholarships

The Indiana University Foundation and IUPUI Scholarships is pleased to offer a scholarship for working students through the generosity of Jesse H. And Beulah Chanley Cox. This scholarship affirms and rewards the efforts of IUPUI students who have demonstrated the motivation and resourcefulness required for success through their part-time work and solid academic performance. This commitment to education, exhibited by a dedication to studies, civic engagement, and continued employment earns this recognition, that exemplifies the characteristics of Mr. Cox who appreciated hard work and perseverance.

Application information

Incoming freshman (not currently attending IUPUI)

The Cox Scholarship application opens on November 1, 2022. If you're an incoming first-year who wants to apply for the IUPUI Freshman Cox Scholarship, you must complete the following steps by February 15, 2023.

Current IUPUI students

Below are steps to take for current IUPUI students

  1. Log into One.iu.edu . Enter the keyword "scholarships" in the search bar.
  2. Click on the "IU Scholarships" icon (a dollar sign ($) with a graduation cap).
  3. Click "Sign in With Your Network ID." You may be prompted to sign in using your IU credentials.
  4. Complete all questions on the "General Application," then click "Finish and Submit." This should be completed before applying for a Cox Scholarship. Please ensure that you answer all questions thoroughly.
  5. Select "Other Recommended Opportunities."
  6. Search for "Cox."
  7. Select the "IUPUI-Jesse H. & Beulah Chanley Cox Scholarship" and complete the application with all required documents to apply.
  8. File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the Cox Scholarship application deadline.

Please apply early to ensure we receive all of your application materials by the application deadline. Finalists will be notified 2-3 weeks to schedule an online interview and recipients will be notified 4 weeks from the deadline date.

 

I am grateful to be a Cox Scholar as it has helped me to have the freedom to not only focus on my biomedical engineering degree, but to start a volunteer student organization that has the mission to support the victims and survivors of domestic abuse through volunteer work and advocacy.
